Ceiling Fan Installation

Ceiling fans put continuous rotational stress on whatever they’re mounted to, which is exactly why a standard light-fixture electrical box isn’t automatically safe to hang one from. Getting this part right matters more for fans than for almost any other fixture type.

Why Ceiling Fans Need a Fan-Rated Box

A fan-rated electrical box is specifically designed and tested to support the ongoing vibration and weight of a running ceiling fan. A standard fixture box that isn’t fan-rated can work loose over time, in the worst case, coming down entirely. We check the existing box before installation and replace it if it isn’t rated for fan use.

Fan and Light Combo Wiring

Many ceiling fans include an integrated light, which means the fan and light often need to be controlled separately, sometimes with a wall control that handles both, sometimes with a remote. We wire this correctly during installation so both functions work as expected from day one.

Choosing the Right Fan for the Room. Fan size relative to room size, and blade clearance relative to ceiling height, both affect how well a fan actually performs and how safe it feels in the space. We can advise on sizing if you haven’t already purchased a fan.

Ceiling Fan Installation Cost

Our current pricing guide doesn’t list a ceiling-fan-specific line item separate from general fixture installation; pricing for a ceiling fan install is closest to our general light fixture installation base rate of $80, with the final number typically higher due to the box-rating check and fan-specific wiring, confirmed after an on-site look.
