Electrical Box Compatibility. Not every existing electrical box is rated to support every fixture type, heavier fixtures need a box rated for that weight, and some older boxes aren’t suitable for any ceiling-mounted fixture without reinforcement. We check this before installation rather than assuming compatibility.
